This past year, I’ve really been getting into exercising and staying healthy. I really started becoming serious back in July after I gained like 8 pounds after three weeks at governor’s school. I wanted to lose that weight and also just be more healthy. I have to listen to some form of music or podcast or something while I work out. I cannot work out in complete silence. Silence is not motivating or fun.

Over the summer, I got into listening to music. It was a nice, mindless thing to listen to. I was working out outside so I just needed something to keep me motivated. Since being at school, music just wasn’t cutting it. I was getting bored with the same 30 or so songs, and wanted to do something more with my time. I mean working out on an elliptical for like an hour is super boring. Instead of music, I have started listening to podcasts. I know, I’m like an 80-year-old woman. I listen to podcasts, crochet, love cats, go to bed early, and get up early.

Here is my list of music and podcasts that I’ve been loving to workout to!

Podcasts

I’ve been loving NPR’s TED Radio Hour. I feel like when I listen to NPR, I’m also learning things! My favorite podcasts so far are Screen Time (both 1 and 2), Why We Collaborate, Peering Into Space, and Shifting Time.

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
