Fall 2015 Music Favorites

I have been absolutely OBSESSED with music lately. Partially because I’ve been a little down about not being close to home and missing my friends. And partially because I’ve been involved with music for 9+ years and it’s my life. Today I thought I’d share my most loved songs that I’ve been listening to over the past month!

Since I haven’t been able to be involved in my campus orchestra, I haven’t had a musical outlet since I moved in. I don’t know how many of you are musicians, but when you haven’t played in a while or haven’t been able to express yourself musically in a while, you get what I like to call ‘music withdrawals.’ It’s absolutely awful. So, instead of picking up my violin and playing some Mozart like I used to do, I recently picked songwriting back up. I play the guitar and have been writing songs for a while. I spent a majority of my fall break playing the guitar and writing music. It was very therapeutic.

Not only have I been writing music, I’ve also been listening to a ton of music. Spotify has been my obsession lately. I’m constantly listening to music whether it be before or after class, doing homework, or just during everyday activities. I feel like I have a really weird taste in music. I’m classically trained on the violin, so, I love listening to classical music. Especially the pieces that I’ve played–they brings back so many memories. But, I also love indie pop I guess you could call it.

My current music playlist includes:

Chocolate by THE 1975
Clairvoyant by THE STORY SO FAR
Could Have Been Me by THE STRUTS
Girls by THE 1975
Kiss This by THE STRUTS
Mr. Brightside by THE KILLERS
Navy Blue by THE STORY SO FAR
Put Your Money On Me by THE STRUTS
Sex by THE 1975
Robbers by THE 1975
Shut Up and Dance by WALK THE MOON
Still by THE JAPANESE HOUSE
Sun Leads Me On by HALF MOON RUN
Sweet Disposition by THE TEMPER TRAP
Where Did She Go by THE STRUTS

They playlist Folk Pop by Spotify on Spotify is another one of my favorites. Oh man, how many times can I say Spotify in one sentence! If you’re more of a Pandora person, I’ve been loving the Jack Johnson radio station. I added John Mayer and Mumford and Sons to that station, and it’s been absolutely amazing!

What are your current music favorites?

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️

I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
