Spring Semester Goals
Well, Christmas break is now over and school has started. I’m currently eating my second salad of the week and writing this post in our student union, both of which are part of my New Year’s resolutions and goals! Last semester I really didn’t write a semester goals post. Instead I wrote a freshman year goals post. While I thought that was a good idea then, I’ve now realized that taking college semester by semester is the way to go. So lets see if I can tackle these second semester goals!
First semester was a HUGE change for me. New city, new state, new school and no friends. I think I grew a lot as a person and made some realizations about myself and other people along the way. This semester I’m really going to try and focus on bettering myself and, hopefully, finding my place in college.
Go on an Adventure
Wow. That sounds so cliche, but in all seriousness, I take this to mean get out of my dorm and go experience the world. Maybe take a Saturday off and go to the local farmer’s market. Or gather a group and go for a hike. All in all, I’m just trying to branch out and meet new people.
Find My Place
It seems that every college student (who’s not a freshman) tells me that freshman year is a major adjustment period. No one knows what they want and people take their newfound freedom a little too far. For me, I’m not into the whole party, drinking, going out scene. I mean I’m a blogger for goodness sakes. I like to stay in, watch YouTube or Netflix, and hang out with my cat. Oh, all while drinking a nice cup of tea. While I find that very enjoyable, it doesn’t condone much socialization. I really want to find a group of people that I fit in with. People who aren’t always talking about drinking and partying. I just want some quality conversation about what’s going on in the world, not how trashed you got last night.
Make All A’s and B’s
This is really my only academic goal for this semester. Last semester I was lucky enough to make four A’s and one B+! I have to keep my grades up for scholarship purposes and I like to push myself. I’m really tough on myself when it comes school, and this semester will be no different, haha.
Leave My Dorm Room
Last semester I rarely left my dorm room. I had a constant stream of JAVA homework, and to be honest, having tea, coffee, and food whenever you want is just a plus. But, it really hindered my socializing. I’m going to try and study/do homework in our student union or at some of the coffee shops on campus. This will hopefully get me out and about a bit more.
What are your semester goals? Do you have any tips on how to get more involved on campus? I’d love to hear!
