10 Things that Make Me Happy
With finals starting this week and after some not-too-happy events that happened this weekend, I thought I’d focus on the positives! I think it’s really important to surround yourself with things that make you smile and make you happy! So, in these hard and stressful times known as finals week, I thought I’d share the things in my life that make me smile!
my cat
Okay so this an obvious one. I mean he’s just so soft and cuddly and beautiful. I have a really hard time with missing him when I’m a way at school, but thinking of his cute little meows and the (although slightly gross) presents he brings my family. Ahh I’m getting so excited to see him right now!
my family
Yep. Another obvious one. But seriously now that I’ve moved away, it’s really special whenever I get to see my family. My parents just recently came down to visit me at college, and it no joke made my week. I’m so glad and grateful that I have such an amazing support system.
Target
Now, what blogger/millennial/girl doesn’t just love Target?? Honestly, I go there just for stress relief. But the store itself is just so calming, and I know this sounds crazy, but it serves as a wonderful escape from reality at times.
early mornings on campus
Walking around at 7:30 am on campus is one of the most relaxing and calming things. There’s no one out and it’s so peaceful. It’s a really good time to just think. And it makes me realize the beauty of the world we live in. In today’s society we’re all caught up in technology and staring at our phones and constantly being connected. It’s nice to take a step back and forget about all of that.
cacti
Plants in general just make me really happy. I don’t know what it is about cacti, but I honestly get so excited when I see one. I think it’s the tiny size and overwhelming cuteness that just gets to me. Anyone else? ok no? That’s alright.
my friends
I may not have a huge social circle, but of the three close friends I do have, they never fail to make me laugh. If I’m going through a hard time or just need to vent, they always have a response that put’s the situation into perspective and makes a joke out of how absurd it usually. Katya, Lauren, or Chan if you’re reading this, know that you never fail to put a smile on my face and I really want to thank you for that!
music
As a musician, music is really important to my daily life. I find that music, whether it’s songs by other artists or stuff that I’ve written, has this ability to connect with me on a really deep level. Simple chord progressions can bring tears to my eyes because they’re so beautiful. Whether I’m stressed or frustrated or extremely mad, playing an instrument or listening to some of my favorite artists has this way of just taking away all of my stress.
office supplies
I feel like a love for stationery and office supplies is a requirement for bloggers. But seeing sticky notes, to-do lists, colorful pens, and adorable note cards just gets me so excited. The Target Dollar Spot is a dangerous place for me.
bunnies
I kind of feel like I’m betraying cats on this one, but I just have this thing with bunnies. First off, their little fluffy tails are so freaking adorable. The way their noses twitch when they’re smelling things… I just can’t.
the college blogging community
I never thought I’d find a place on the Internet that I feel like I belong. The whole blogging community in general is so uplifting and supportive and amazing. I don’t think I would’ve made it through my first year without the support of Amelie from A Wanderer’s Adventures for listening to all of my dorm drama and the rest of the college bloggers out there. I just want to give a big virtual hug to all of you because you all are amazing!
I really think posts like these are super important because it reminds us of all of the positive things in life. If you’re reading this and you have a blog, I’d love to see you do this post and see what makes you happy! Or, feel free to leave what makes you happy in the comments below!
