Living the Gray Life

A Fitness & Lifestyle Blog

Life Lately: February 2017

Well hello, it’s been a while. You probably thought I was going to go all Adele on you there and be like “hello, it’s me.” It’s been a while for a lot of things – a blog post, my lack of inspiration, a life update post. If you’ve been a follower of Living the Gray Life for the past year, which thank you so much and I love you, you know that I periodically do these kinds of posts. I feel that it’s important for this blog to be a place for me to spill me emotions as well as helpful college, life, and fitness stuff.

I usually write one of these whenever I’m straight out of ideas or I feel like the direction of my life is changing, and that is why I’m here today. Well, to be honest, both of those reasons are why I’m writing this post. As I’m writing this, it’s February 2nd, I’m sitting in my operating systems classroom after a great shoulder session at the gym, and honestly I don’t know how I feel. I’m just a whole mixture of sad, happy, confused, hopeful, and excited. We’re already a month into 2017 and so much has already changed. Donald Trump is president (just gonna leave that there with no further detail), my friend group has had to make a huge adjustment, and school is way harder than I thought it would be.

Over the past week I’ve truly neglected the blog. I’ve been completely absent on Twitter, my Insta is dead, and it’s been over a week and I still haven’t posted anything. That kills me. This blog is my passion, it’s my life, and honestly, it’s my whole world. Yeah sure a few missed posts and a week off probably won’t ruin the blog in the long run, but I feel like I’m letting you and myself down.

I’ve been a bit conflicted when it comes to the direction I want to take this blog. I love doing college advice and tips and tricks about dorm life and stuff like that, but my interests are shifting. I’m no longer putting 100% of my attention towards school. This is actually going to sound bad, but school is on the back burner for me right now. I’ve found somewhere that I fit in and I’ve found an activity that I love doing, and to me, pursuing those sound way better than school. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dropping out or anything, but I’ve just come to realize that there’s more to life than school.

In case you’ve missed the past few posts, I’m really trying to incorporate fitness into my blog. After all, I spend at least 6-7 hours a week at the gym, I’m always trying to find new ways to eat healthy, and I do it all while being a full-time student. I just don’t know what I want to feature on the blog. Workouts, meal plans, grocery lists? I have no idea.

As I make it through this transition in my life and my blog, I just want to say thank you. Thank you to all the readers out there that support me, leave comments on my posts, like my Instas, and shoot me an email telling me how much I’ve helped you. Thank you. I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you to my friends and family, both blogging and real life. Y’all are always there when I need help with post ideas or I’m just having a really bad day or I’m celebrating something so small as to get 500 followers on Instagram.

I’m working really hard this weekend to get this blog back up and running again. From generating tons of post ideas to working on some bugs in this blog’s theme. I’m really excited to see what’s going to come of everything.

Thank you all for your continued support and I’ll see you on Tuesday!

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️

I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
