My Six Month Blogiversary
On December 4th, 2015 my blog is officially 6th months old! When I started this blog, I never thought I would get this far. Ok, so maybe I haven’t gotten that far in the grand scheme of the blogging world, but I’m pretty impressed with my 600+ monthly page views at the moment. In case you have absolutely no clue what a blogiversary is, it’s an abbreviated term for blog anniversary. Who wants to say blog anniversary? Blogiversary sounds so much more bloggerish. Us bloggers like to combine and make up new words. Anyways, today I wanted to share my accomplishments with you! I really enjoy reading these posts because I can see where other bloggers came from and that we all didn’t get thousands of page views overnight (although that does happen).
Blogging in general has been a big accomplishment for me. Usually I start some form of online social thing, either a blog or a YouTube channel, and I get discouraged because I don’t see results.
Well, I do see results but they’re not the results I want to see. So, the fact that I’ve kept up with posting at least twice a week on this blog for over 6 months is huge.
I passed 500 page views! This is a big deal for me. When I started this blog, I got slightly discouraged because I didn’t have that many people visiting, and I knew all of my visitors. They were all close friends who I begged to check out my blog.
Since I started an editorial calendar back in July, I’ve only not posted four times since then. I cannot live without my editorial calendar, but only four days out of I don’t know how many! Super proud of myself on that one. I remember there was a week back in September where I just wanted to give up. I couldn’t come up with any post ideas and college was stressing me out. As a freshman, the first few weeks of college were super overwhelming and it didn’t help that I wanted to make sure I had three posts a week. I took a step back, looked at the bigger picture, and told myself that “Hey, take a week off. It really won’t kill you or your blog and maybe that’s what you need.” Well, it worked. Since then, I haven’t had a week where I’ve been so overwhelmed. Somehow the posts always get written and the photos always are edited.
I was interviewed by another blogger! Sadly, the interview is no longer up because her website crashed and she lost everything, but still. I was interviewed! I was also featured on Classy Cathleen’s FRI-YAY links post a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE Cathleen and it was such an honor to be featured on her blog!
I started a vlog channel! If you missed my whole post about my vlog channel, you can check it out here! And, I started a Twitter account specifically for the blog. This is actually really cool. I felt bad for all of my friends from high school being constantly inundated with blog updates so I decided to create my own blog Twitter account. Go follow me @livingthegray.
Overall, I’m just really proud of myself for sticking with something for so long. I’ve met so many amazing people and I feel like I really do have friends in the blogging community. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am now!
