2016 Blogging Goals
2016 is here! Happy New Year! Well, this post is like three weeks after the New Year, but I’m actually writing it on January 1st. You see, scheduling plays a big role in my blog. 2015 was such an amazing year for me. I mean I started this blog! And, last month I passed 1,000 page views!! I love setting goals for myself. For example, check out my New Year’s Resolutions/Goals post. I have a feeling that 2016 is going to be a big year for me if I just stick with blogging.
Overall, I think one of my major goals for this year is to stop worrying about the numbers. When I first started blogging, I would check my stats probably 20+ times a day. That’s no exaggeration either. I’ve gotten better about not checking them but once every day or every other day. Numbers don’t define the quality of your content.
Blog Goals
My top blogging goal of the year is to switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. That means finding a host and buying my own domain! To go with that, I’ve been working on coding my own WordPress theme, and I really need to finish that. School, Christmas, sleep. Those all really get in the way of coding a theme.
I personally love setting number goals to achieve. For me, I want to reach 5,000 monthly page views by the end of 2016. I feel that that number is a nice challenge for me. Or maybe it’ll be really easy for me. If that’s the case, I’ll just increase my number! But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves now.
For me, I like the whole three-post-a-week schedule, but I just know that this semester with Calculus, English, chemistry, and two computing classes that three posts a week probably isn’t feasible. School always comes first. I want to post two quality blog posts a week. I feel that that will be a nice balance between blogging and school. Maybe a Tuesday and Friday schedule? Quality blog posts means quality photos. I consider myself a decent photographer, but I want to improve my photography skills aka being comfortable in manual mode and becoming one with the camera.
Monetizing my blog is another big goal for me. I’ve been doing this for over seven months now and I feel that it’s time to take it to the next level!
Social Goals
Twitter. Twitter. Twitter. Sometimes I think I really know how to utilize Twitter and then I don’t tweet for like two weeks. So, I want to use Twitter more effectively. To me, that means interacting with other bloggers and Twitter users and tweeting more. Back in July and August, I was really into all of the Twitter chats. I’d religiously participate in certain college blogger chats, but as college slowly started taking over my life, I just stopped participating. When all of the new Twitter chats start back up this year, I really want to get involved in them!
I also used to be really good about commenting and interacting on other people’s blogs. These days, not so much. I want to make it my goal to comment/interact on at least three blogs a week.
Finally, I want to collab with other bloggers! I have a few in the works right now, but I feel like collaborating with other bloggers is a great way to grow my following and help them out as well!
These are my blogging goals for 2016! Wow, that still feel really weird typing 2016 instead of 2015… If you’re a blogger, what are some of your blogging goal for the year? I love talking to you all!
