Current Movie and TV Favorites
In the winter months, it seems like it’s always too cold outside, and I want to stay inside, bundled up in blankets, watching a movie. I’ve not been watching as much YouTube and stuff lately because I’ve been trying to cut down my screen time, but I’ve been absolutely OBSESSED with Amazon Prime Videos. Ahh. Documentaries have become my new favorite! Click on any of the pictures to be directed to the Amazon page!
Mozart in the Jungle
I watched all two seasons of this show in two days and I am not ashamed. At all. It is soooo good! I’m a musician myself, and I spent 8 years in the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra, so this show really reminded me of my time in the orchestra. I love the classical music they include in the show, partially because I’ve played most of it, and it really does a good job of representing classical music literature.
This drama is only available on Amazon, but if you’re a Prime member, you have access to all of the Prime TV shows and movies. I seriously want them to make a third season.
Interstellar
When I saw that this movie was on Amazon Prime Video, I freaked out. I love anything having to do with the universe and space time and everything like that. I watched this movie when it first came out, and I was obsessed then. I feel that with this movie, you really have to watch it at least twice to fully understand it.
That Sugar Film
Like I said before, I’ve become obsessed with food documentaries. This one is all about what sugar does to your body when you eat the average amount, aka 40 teaspoons, a day. If you really want to change your diet, I’d suggest watching this because it really makes you want to cut out sugar all together. And, cutting out sugar or almost all sugar is a really easy way to improve your life. I am on week three of little to no sugar and only healthy food, and I cannot explain to you how amazing I feel.
In Defense of Food
Last semester I took a “food politics” themed English class, and we read some articles by Michael Pollan. He wrote and stars in this documentary. It really shows how important eating healthy is. Again, if you’re looking to get on the healthy lifestyle track, I’d highly suggest watching this. This was recently shown on PBS and is available on Xfinity online.
What have you been loving to watch lately? I’m in need of suggestions!
