Living the Gray Life

A Fitness & Lifestyle Blog

This Weekend at Trader Joe’s

Chances are if it’s a weekend, you’ll find me at Trader Joe’s.

I used to be not a huge fan of good ‘ole TJ’s, but over the past year, I’ve become obsessed with their foods. It’s nice going into a store and not worry about high fructose corn syrup or other nasty ingredients that I do not want in my food.

Trader Joe’s has so many options when it comes to food (especially frozen), that it’s a college student’s dream.

I asked on my Instagram stories if y’all wanted to see a Trader Joe’s haul on the blog this week, and your response was an overwhelming “yes!”. (46 for yes, and 1 for no) I’m always trying out something new every time I go in, and of course, I have the staple items that I cannot live without.

Let’s get into it!!

(p.s. all the photos in this post were edited using Gabby’s Lightroom presets. You can find them on her blog!)

Veggies & Fruit

  • Zucchini
  • Strawberries
  • Lemons (for that hot lemon water)
  • Apples

I typically buy produce from local grocery stores, but if I’m at TJ’s and I know I need a certain thing, I’m not going to say no.

Proteins

  • Hi-Protein Veggie Burger
  • Eggs
  • Tofurky Sausage
  • Firm Tofu

TJ’s seems to have the best price on my favorite Tofurky sausages. I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I do love tofu and eating as plant-based as my little heart desires. Eggs, Tofurky, and TJ’s firm tofu are always on my list and in my cart.

A new item I decided to try was their Hi-Protein Veggie Burger. It has pretty solid macros (22 grams of protein or something crazy like that), and I figured it’d be something different than my usual chicken, rice, and zucchini lunches.

Carbs

  • Resturant-Style Tortilla Chips
  • Chunky Salsa
  • Organic Black Bean Rotini

I saw their organic black bean rotini in a YouTube video a while ago, and I’ve been wanting to pick it up ever since. It’s made with black bean flour and has 14 grams of protein per serving! I’ll be sure to let y’all know how it is.

Other than that, I just grabbed my go-to salsa and chips. Thier restaurant-style tortilla chips are seasoned with lime and they’re thicker than normal tortilla chips so I don’t constantly lose half-broken pieces of tortilla chip in my salsa…

That chunky salsa is the perfect level of spice, saltiness, and just overall deliciousness. Highly recommend.

What are some of your favorite items from Trader Joe’s?? I’m always looking for new, fun things to try!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️

I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
