Must Have Thanksgiving Dishes
I don’t know about you, but as I’ve gotten older I have learned to love Thanksgiving more and more. The food, the family, the weather. Everything is perfect. I mean of course there’s always that crazy uncle and the constant buzz of what seems like 100 kid running around. And, as a college student, I am deprived of nice, home-cooked meals for months at a time. I have been looking forward to Thanksgiving since the day I moved in! It can’t be Thanksgiving without delicious food either! These are recipes for my MUST HAVE Thanksgiving recipes.
Green Beans
I could eat this whole bowl if you let me. I love and live for Thanksgiving green beans. I’m from the south so they have to be southern-style. I do like it when the beans are nice and fresh and crispy, but my favorite way to have them is when they’ve been cooked for hours and basically falling apart. The addition of bacon doesn’t hurt either 🙂
These country style green beans are from Renee’s Kitchen Adventures and I must say, they look delicious.
Macaroni & Cheese
Can we talk about how amazing this mac ‘n cheese looks for just a second? I mean it just looks so gooey and crunchy on top. My mouth is watering just looking at this picture. I have not tried this recipe, but if the picture looks that good, how could it not taste amazing! I am definitely going to try this when I go home for Thanksgiving! If you try it, let me know how it tastes!
This amazing mac & cheese recipe is from by Rachel from The Country Contessa.
Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are a staple Thanksgiving dish. Personally, I love the sides more than the turkey. I always have seconds and thirds of mashed potatoes and green beans. This recipe not only looks delicious, but it’s made in a crock pot! How easy is that!? That’s one less thing to have to worry about on that busy Thanksgiving day. Plus, they’ll stay warm. Have you every tried to reheat mashed potatoes? They’re basically impossible to reheat in a timely manner.
I am definitely going to try these easy mashed potatoes by Tiffany from Creme de la Crumb.
Dressing
Dressing. I don’t know why it’s called dressing but I really don’t care because it’s one of my favorite parts of the meal. I know my family has a family recipe for Thanksgiving dressing, but this one looks pretty close! I’ve never made dressing before, but it doesn’t seem that difficult! And this one looks absolutely amazing!
This may not replace our family recipe, but it’s pretty darn close! The full recipe can be found at A Palatable Pastime.
Pumpkin Pie
How can it be Thanksgiving without having a pumpkin pie? I know some people don’t like it. In fact, I’m like the only one in my family that will actually eat it. Good for me because that means I get an entire pie to myself. But not good for me because my jeans won’t fit the next week, haha!
How could it not be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie! This delicious version is by Kathleen from Gonna Want Seconds.
What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes? Do you have any family recipes? I love hearing from you all! Have a happy Thanksgiving and don’t eat too much!
