A Weekend with Caitlyn

Caitlyn in Knoxville | Cover Image

Y’all it finally happened! Caitlyn and I actually lifted together, ate lots of brunch, drank tons of coffee, and bonded over our eerie similarities.

Her visit was in the works for almost a month and a half, and somehow we both managed to keep it a secret for the entire time. I’m kinda proud of us for that one! But anyways, she and I had the most amazing weekend, and I never wanted her to leave. Here’s a look at what we did while she was in town.

The Workouts

Okay so as you might know, Caitlyn and I are huge fitness fanatics so of course we had to hit a few gym sessions while she was in town!

Before she arrived in Knoxville, we decided we were going to go to the gym twice, therefore giving us both a chance to plan workouts for each other. She wanted me to plan the upper body workout because apparently, I’m known for my arms. And I’m not complaining about that, haha. I planned the upper body day, and she planned the lower body.

Not only was I working out with my ideal gym partner, it was my first time back in the gym in almost three months (not counting those two weeks where I barely went back back in November/December)!

Upper Body Workout

  • Flat dumbbell bench press 3×10
  • Single arm shoulder press 3×10
  • SUPERSET: x3
    • Steering wheels with plate x10
    • Lateral raise x12
  • Assisted pull-ups 3×8
  • Seated cable rows 3×10
  • Straight arm pushdowns 3×10
  • SUPERSET: x3
    • Overhead barbell shoulder press x10
    • Lateral raise x10
  • Deadlifts

Lower Body Workout

  • Squats
    • 1×8, 1×6, 2×4 increasing weight each time; keep weight the same for the 2 sets of 4
  • Leg press 3×10
  • Single-leg leg press 3×10
  • Adductor machine
    • Dropset
  • Hip thrusts 3×10

These are just the reps and sets that I hit. I’m still trying to regain my strength from having mono and being out of the gym for almost three months so that’s why the sets and reps are a little lower than usual.

Does Caitlyn Stone even lift?

The answer to that is yes, yes she does.

A Freezing Trip to the Mountains

If there’s one thing East Tennessee is known for, that’s the mountains. I mean heck, I even have a mountain tattoo.

Originally we didn’t plan to head up to the Smokies while she was here. It was a last minute decision on Saturday morning after my dad suggested we go, and I’m honestly really glad we did! Granted, it was freezing, but we managed to take some pretty decent photos, and Caitlyn got to see the mountains!

We drove through Cade’s Cove which is a “drive hike” as Caitlyn called it (check out the vlog to get the reference). I hadn’t been since I was probably 8, so it was cool to go back and see all the pretty views!

Mini Photoshoot in Honeybee

After our fail of a photoshoot in the mountains because it was so freaking cold, we decided to hit up my favorite coffee shop in Knoxville. Honeybee Coffee.

Okay if you’re ever in Knoxville, Honeybee Coffee is a must-visit destination. The inside is so aesthetically pleasing and the coffee is delicious. Like I cannot stress how amazing this place is. I went there all the time over the summer to grab a coffee before work, and I’d even go to work on blog stuff. Y’all it’s perfection.

Once we got our coffee, we went into one of the back rooms, and we found the PERFECT picture-taking location. So, to make up for our lack luster photoshoot in the mountains, we had an amazing, impromptu photoshoot in Honeybee.

And I have to say, these pictures are quite frankly my most favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. She also introduced me to the power of Google Photos and my life will never be the same.

A Trip to Market Square

Knoxville is known for it’s hipster culture, and downtown Knoxville definitely plays a huge role in that! Caitlyn fell in love with our downtown. Market Square is super cool because it’s surrounded by all of these delicious restaurants and cool, hipster-y shops. It makes for a fun day trip!

We ate (again) at The Tomato Head and had a photoshoot for one of Caitlyn’s outfit posts. We wandered around, checked out a few shops, and called it a day!

The Q&A

While she was in town, we decided it would be fun to film a Q&A. We sent out tweets on Twitter asking for questions, and y’all asked so many amazing things!

You can check out our answers in both the videos below!

The Vlog

We also decided that we couldn’t not film a vlog while she was in town. Caitlyn made her vlogging debut, and she’s actually such a natural at it!

Sadly Caitlyn had to leave on Monday morning 🙁 We filmed the outro to our vlog and said our goodbyes and she was off to Kentucky.

Caitlyn, it was so amazing having you in Knoxville, and I can’t wait to hang out with you again! Have a blast in Scotland, and I hope to see you on that vlog game here pretty soon. Okay, bye!

Don’t forget to check out Caitlyn on her blog, Twitter, and Instagram!

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️

I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
