Healthy Habits I’ve Been Adopting
Alright so first it was spring break and I was having way too much fun enjoying my time away from social media at the beach to be concerned at blogging. Then there was a family emergency and I had to go home for almost an entire week so I was not about to be blogging during that time. Then there was all of last week where I was trying to play catch up from missing almost a week of school.
But I’m back. At least I think I’m back for a good while haha.
Today I wanted to talk about some things that I’ve been doing to make my day to day life a little more healthy.
Drinking hot lemon water every morning
Inspired by Cristina and Sarah, I figured I should give hot lemon water in the mornings a try. After all, everyone has been raving about it, right?
Oh my goodness. My life is forever changed.
Hot lemon water honestly wakes me up more than coffee does, it’s so refreshing, and I feel like it overall just makes me feel better throughout the day. It reduces the bloat I sometimes wake up with, it holds off my morning hunger for a few hours, and it makes for a much better beverage to consume before a workout.
Love this, and I’m not going to be stopping it any time soon.
Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day
According to my mother, I was on a very tight schedule from the day I was born.
I function well on a schedule, and that’s honestly how I thrive. I started to notice that I was constantly tired. My bedtime was all over the place, and I never felt fully rested.

This has solved all of my issues. I know I will get 8 hours of sleep if I go to bed at 10:30 and wake up at 6:30. (also the alarm sounds for this are way more pleasing to wake up to instead of the screeching noise of the ringtones)
I’m a total morning person, so I’m known to knock out a ton of work early in the morning. I’ve gotten back into the swing of morning workouts, and I think my body is finally back into a routine when it comes to sleep.
Eating chia seeds and ground flaxseed almost daily.
I originally started adding chia seeds to my diet thanks to Sarah’s Day once again.
She puts chia seeds in a plethora of goodies from water to protein balls, and I was inspired. I add them to my oats in the morning, my protein smoothies, and my new favorite protein balls (recipe coming soon!)
It’s just a super easy way to get in healthy fiber and fats, and I’ve been loving it.
Focusing on eating more whole foods.
I’ve just been really into the effects that food has on the body. To me, it’s kind of like magic that just by eating whole foods and stuff like that, you’re body becomes healthier. #science
Eating more fruits and veggies at almost every meal has been a top priority. I try to stay away from packaged foods as much as I can, but I’ll have a granola bar and a bag of popcorn almost every day.
Going to the store and picking out my fruit and veggies for the week is honestly like going to a candy store. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Also I just love grocery shopping, so if I have an excuse to stand in the produce aisle for longer, I’ll take it!
These small changes have made a huge impact on my energy levels and my overall daily function. What small healthy changes have you made recently in your life? Did you cut out soda? Did you reduce the number of times you eat out every week? Let me know in the comments below!
