Happy 3 Year Blogiversary!!

3 Year Blogiversary Cover

Hello, hello!!

Today (well yesterday when you’re reading this) is a very exciting day. Today Living the Gray Life turns THREE!!

Oh my goodness, three whole years. That. Is. Crazy.

After last year’s mishap of completely missing my blogiversary, I refused to let it happen again this year. So here we are! This post is going to be a celebration of this blog and all of my favorite parts and why I blog and this and that and just a bunch of random stuff all tied together by the fact that I’ve been committed to something for three years.

Fun fact that you might not know: before this blog, I had another blog and a YouTube channel. Senior year of high school I started a nail polish blog called Polish and Things, and that was a failed disaster because I didn’t realize just how much work running a nail polish blog was going to be. Then I started a YouTube channel. I did quite a few videos on there, didn’t really get any traction, found out that I didn’t like to have to look presentable every time I wanted to create content, and so that was the end of that.

After many failed attempts at trying to become an online celebrity, I remember the moment I made the decision to start this blog. It was June of 2015. I had just graduated high school, met my idol, and was about to start college at my dream school in two short months. I was sitting in the music room turned office of my house staring at the WordPress screen that was asking for the URL of my new site. And that’s when Living the Gray Life was born.

I remember for the first month or so of that blog, I essentially treated it like a Tumblr page. I’d do single-line blog posts with just a motivational quote, and I’d do a weekly recap every week where I’d explain what happened to me each day that week. I had no idea what I was doing LOL. Not to mention that my content could be summed up by the question “what the heck is this?”, the site design was awful. Like atrocious. AWFUL.

So why not go back down memory lane and look at how this site has evolved over the years. Brace yourself because some of these are bad.

It’s kinda crazy just how much things change in 3 years.

I originally started out as a college lifestyle blogger talking about all things college, football, and food, and funny enough, I was so not into fitness. I was legit the most unathletic person you’d ever met. I slowly started finding myself and my love for fitness, and here I am three years later as a full-blown college fitness and lifestyle blogger.

So what exactly have I done in the past year?

I embraced my passion for fitness and found out how to incorporate it into the blog.

I turned one of the biggest hurdles (aka mono) of my life into a positive series on the blog (aka Project Comeback).

I hosted the 2nd annual Blogger Secret Santa.

I finally met my blogger bestie Caitlyn and we had a blast venturing around Knoxville.

I released my very first workout program for FREE!

This past year wouldn’t have been such an amazing success or learning experience if I didn’t have the love and support of you. I cannot even describe the joy I feel when I receive an email or a comment saying how something I’ve written has inspired you to be your best self. It legit makes my day.

Y’all are amazing, and I cannot wait to keep up with this blog for the years to come. I love y’all so much!!

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
