We’re Taking A Break

Good morning! Wow, Abigail you’re posting a blog post on a Monday? What is this, 2015 or something? I know. I know. But, I have some important news for you.

If you’ve been following Living the Gray Life for a while now, you’ve probably noticed that my posting schedule has been super inconsistent for the past few weeks, and my content hasn’t been top notch. There’s a reason for this: I’ve spread myself too thin.

Between classes, homework, work, the blog, the gym, boys, friends, and trying to figure out my life for the summer, I have no motivation. I’m exhausted, my creative juices have run dry, and blogging has become a chore which is the last thing I want. In order for me to regain control of my life, I need a break. I need a break from something in my life. And sadly that break is going to be in the form of blogging.

I will be back at the end of March or beginning of April, but until then there won’t be any updates on the blog. I’ll still be active on Instagram and Twitter so don’t think I gave up completely šŸ™‚

I’ll see y’all soon!

Rediscover Your Hometown This Spring Break

Are you heading back home for spring break? Not going on some crazy beach vacation with all your friends? Because girl, same. While I’d love to go to the beach or go on some extravagant trip across the country, that’s just not in the books or the budget for me this year. For spring break I’ll be heading back to good ā€˜ole Knoxville spending my days at all the doctors appointments I can squeeze in. While I’d usually be down about not doing something fun for spring break, this year I’m looking at the whole staying home for spring break in a new light.

Knoxville has a lot to offer in terms of the hipster vibe that I know and love. I’m talking local coffee shops, cute little restaurants, outdoor activities, and so much more. I’ve never really truly explored Knoxville in this way before, so while all my friends at UT are still in school slaving away at midterms, I’ll be falling back in love with the city in which I became who I am today.

How to Start Hand Lettering feat. SamanthaLetters

To all my hand lettering lovers, oh have I got a treat for you. So earlier in the month, you may have seen a sneaky tweet warning y’all to get excited for something hand lettering related, and I’m so excited that it’s finally here! Today I get the pleasure of introducing you to one of my close friends and fellow hand lettering addict Samantha. Samantha’s hand lettering skills far surpass mine (honestly super jealous of her talent), and she’s all over that Instagram game with her beautiful pieces! So, I’m going to stop rambling about how much I love Samantha, and let’s get into the post!

Love hand lettering but have no idea where to start? Check out these tips for beginner hand lettering brought to you by SamanthaLetters!

Hey everyone! I was so excited when Abigail asked me to write a guest post for her blog (which, can I just say, is my low-key obsession). I can’t wait to share with you all something that has easily become one of my greatest passions!

9 Life Lessons Learned in College

Good morning, y’all! Right now I’m sitting here on a Saturday enjoying the rest of my sparkling white grape juice from the night before while knocking out a ton of blogging related stuff. I was going through a bunch of my old posts looking for some inspiration because lately, I’ve been straight out of inspo. I came across a post I wrote in the fall of 2015 called ā€œ5 Things I’ve Learned Since Being in College.ā€ Reading through that list, it really reminded me of how much college has changed in shaped me in ways I never thought possible.

College is more than just what happens in the classroom.

If you’re just starting out in college, or you’re almost done, there’s so much college teaches you about yourself, the world, and others. Today, I wanted to share my updated version of all of the marvelous things college has taught me.

My Tried & True Leg Workout

Looking for a leg workout to really get you sore and get those gains? Look no further! Check out my tried and true leg workout!

Alright today I’m taking a big step towards incorporating fitness into this blog. Today I’m bringing to you my tried and true leg workout! Ahhh I KNOW! Now, I am not a personal trainer or any certified form of fitness instructor. I’m just a girl who’s figured out what works for her, and that’s why I’m sharing it with you! I was debating whether or not to post this, so I hit up my blogging BFF and fellow fitness lover Caitlyn from over at College With Caitlyn and she was all for it.

For me, I want my leg workouts to be hard. I want my legs to burn, I want my heart rate to soar, and I want my butt to shake when I lean over to brush my teeth that night. Trust me, that last one is true, and it’s real haha. This leg workout can easily be adapted for beginners who maybe don’t have the stamina for a full on hour death session or are a little uncertain about what to do when at the gym.

Valentine’s Day Doesn’t Have to Suck

ATTENTION CLOSE FRIENDS OF MINE, PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS POST. OR IF YOU DO, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. In case you’re living under a rock, Valentine’s Day is approaching, which means the aisles at Target are full of pink, red, and white, and candy lines almost every shelf. I’m not one to love Valentine’s Day. In fact, I’d probably say that it’s my least favorite holiday of the year. Maybe it’s because I’ve been single for 18 out of my 19 Valentine’s Days, but I still dread it every year. This year, though, I’m trying something a little different. Instead of focusing all of my energy on how I’m going to be single for life and will probably be that crazy cat lady, I’m celebrating all of the positive relationships I have with friends and family.

Don't buy in to the consumerism of Valentine's Day. Show your loved ones how much you care by creating your very own handmade Valentines cards! Find out how to make all the cards pictured above in today's post!

Over the past eight months, I’ve formed friendships with people that are going to last a lifetime, and I want to celebrate that. I’ve also been really into all the cheesy Valentine’s quotes this year, so that’s played a large role in why I decided to not-so-much hate on Valentine’s Day this year. So what’s a better way than incorporating my love for hand lettering with my love for cheesy love quotes than to make a ton of cheesy, hand-made Valentine’s cards??

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø
