Revising A Paper: How To

I don’t know about you, but in high school I never really learned how to revise a paper. We always did timed writings. I became accustomed to writing down all my thoughts in a somewhat organized fashion, never really thinking about the flow. Because of this, I had a steep learning curve when I came to college and was required to actually work months, not just 45 minutes, on a paper. This post is a compilation of a ton of information that I’ve received from my English professors since being in college!

Have a paper due that needs revising? Check out these tips & tricks to get that "A"!

There is a big difference between revising and proofreading. Proofreading is a final check of your writing. During this time you can look for misspelled words, grammatical errors, and any other general errors. Revising is basically reworking your piece of writing. This means reconstructing your sentences and paragraphs, clarifying your claim, and making sure your argument and supporting paragraphs/sentences are clear. This is where I struggled. I was so used to proofreading and not actually revising.

November Goals

november goals 2015

I originally wasn’t going to upload a post today, but then I didn’t want to not upload. I have had so much stuff going on this week and today. I’m going back home for a football game tomorrow and will be returning back at school on Sunday. That means little to no time to do homework or write blog posts! I know! While I was in class this morning (I only have one class on Fridays. What a blessing.), I thought about doing a November goals post. I saw Kenzie from SincerelyKenz did one, check it out here, and I wanted to do one myself!

Almost all of these are just related to my personal life and not blogging. I’m working on a post to go up in December all about my blogging goals and accomplishments of the year!

College Study Tips

College study tips for freshman

If there’s one thing in high school that I didn’t learn, that was how to study. I never had the need to study in high school. School just seemed to come easy to me. Once I got to college, all of that changed. I knew that my study habits that I had acquired in high school just weren’t going to cut it in college. Not studying and procrastination just does not work in college. Here are my study tips for doing well in college!

5 Things I’ve Learned Since Being In College

what-ive-learned-in-college-fall-2015-freshman-year-cover

I’ve officially been in college for almost three months now! It’s hard to believe I’m almost done with my first semester of my freshman year of college. I don’t really feel experienced enough to tell you the do’s and don’ts of college quite yet, but I thought I’d share what I’ve learned so far. This summer I spent so many hours reading about college and what to expect and what to pack. I was so excited! Little did I know how much I would learn in these first few months!

October has been absolutely insane from the devastating floods here in Columbia to Spurrier leaving the football program, it has never seemed to end. In the midst of all of that, I found some stuff that I have been loving this past month! I’ve been introduced to some great music and have become obsessed tea. Here are my October favorites!

Fall 2015 Music Favorites

I have been absolutely OBSESSED with music lately. Partially because I’ve been a little down about not being close to home and missing my friends. And partially because I’ve been involved with music for 9+ years and it’s my life. Today I thought I’d share my most loved songs that I’ve been listening to over the past month!

Since I haven’t been able to be involved in my campus orchestra, I haven’t had a musical outlet since I moved in. I don’t know how many of you are musicians, but when you haven’t played in a while or haven’t been able to express yourself musically in a while, you get what I like to call ‘music withdrawals.’ It’s absolutely awful. So, instead of picking up my violin and playing some Mozart like I used to do, I recently picked songwriting back up. I play the guitar and have been writing songs for a while. I spent a majority of my fall break playing the guitar and writing music. It was very therapeutic.

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
