Coffee & Chit Chat | No. 5

Coffee & Chit Chat No 5 | Cover Image

Hello, hello!

I honestly feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these Coffee & Chit Chat posts. When I posted my 2018 reader survey, a good majority of y’all said that you love these posts and you want me to keep them coming. I plan to do one of these at least once a month, and I promise these aren’t going to be completely fitness related. That’s what my project comeback series is for after all?

So I totally meant for this post to go up on Friday, but I fell a little bit behind with being on duty Thursday night and making my life look presentable for when my parents came to town. Hope you don’t mind this post being a few days late 🙂

Leg Day, Dead Day

Leg Day, Dead Day | Glute-focused leg workout

Hello, hello!

So, if you read the latest installment of my Project Comeback series, you would’ve seen the progress picture I included that showed literally no progress at all. #bummer

Working on my glutes and hamstrings for almost a year and seeing no progress was by far a letdown, but that kicked my butt into high gear to actually get some #bootygains. Wow, I cannot believe I actually typed that out…

I went into this workout without really having a plan, and all I knew was that I wanted to kill my glutes and hamstrings.

My goal for any workout is to have my legs shaking when I lean over the sink to brush my teeth or wash my face later that night. Needless to say, this workout did just that, and I couldn’t help but want to share my pain with y’all! You’re welcome in advance.

Too Many Slices of Cheesecake… | Project Comeback Ep.3

Too Many Slices of Cheesecake | Project Comeback Ep. 3

Hello, hello!

It’s been almost a month since my last one of these Project Comeback installments, and I figured it was about time for me to update you on my progress in and out of the gym. As of now, I’ve been back in the gym for almost a solid 2 months, and in those 2 months, I’ve seen my body transform in so many amazing ways.

As you can recall from my last Project Comeback is that my strength was almost non-existent after that 3-month hiatus from the gym. It was pretty darn discouraging, to say the least. Not only was my strength gone, but my overall conditioning sucked. I was out of breath after walking up a flight of stairs, I could barely make it through three exercises of my leg day, and the smallest thing would wear me out.

15 Minute Circuit-Style Workout

15 Minute Circuit Workout

I was inspired to write this post after I read Coffee, Cardio, and Kale’s “Your Best 21 Minute Workout!”

My friends and I are going to the beach for Spring Break and they’re wanting to get ready for that. I want to switch things up a bit in my routine and focus on functional fitness and strength training (although this is more cardio/functional fitness than strength training) and have a bit of fun with these Saturday boot camp workouts my friends want me to plan out for them.

I warned them the entire week leading up to our boot camp Saturday workouts that this was going to be a challenging workout, but it’s going to be amazing. So, taking from Coffee, Cardio, and Kale, I’ve put together a little 3-circuit, 15-minute workout that you can do at the gym if you’re looking to switch things up.

So skincare and makeup have become some of my top priorities in 2018. Over the past six to eight months, my skin has been hating me and I live with consistent breakouts. It’s no fun to wake up in the morning and look in the mirror just to see the next colony of pimples that have decided to take up my face as their place of residence.

I also really love makeup, and I find the process of applying makeup very therapeutic. Over the past year, I became #obsessed with the gym (and don’t get me wrong, I still am), but I noticed my appearance became that typical gym-goer who lived in workout clothes and no makeup. I loved that because it was so easy and carefree, but I wanted to look a little more presentable on a regular basis.

Here’s How I Stopped Procrastinating

How I Learned to Stop Procrastinating | Cover Image

After two and a half years as a college student, I think I finally figured out how to stay on top of all of my assignments and avoid the procrastination train.

Freshman and sophomore year I was pretty bad about leaving things until the last minute. I mean it wouldn’t be super last minute, but I’d definitely put things off way longer than I should have. That caused me so much stress and anxiety, and I totally could’ve avoided that had I just sat down and mapped things out for the entire semester.

Having an organization system that works for me is single-handedly the only way I can stay on top of and even get ahead on my assignments. It’s kind of crazy how designating an hour or so to figure out the semester will save you so much stress in the long run. Here are my tips to avoid procrastination during the school year!

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
I honestly forgot how productive I am whenever I w I honestly forgot how productive I am whenever I work from a coffee shop ☕️ No pantry full of food, no comfy bed, and no opportunity to take a nap. Working from home is great and all, but it can be so distracting 😂
