January Favorites

It’s really hard to believe that we’re already one month into 2016. I still date my papers with 2015 on accident and the weather has gotten significantly colder. 2016 has been a year of being healthy for me, from working out to eating healthy. And, January has been my second month breaking 1000 page views! Oh, and I passed 100 followers on my blog’s Twitter account! But, these are the things I’ve been loving this month!

Current Movie and TV Favorites

In the winter months, it seems like it’s always too cold outside, and I want to stay inside, bundled up in blankets, watching a movie. I’ve not been watching as much YouTube and stuff lately because I’ve been trying to cut down my screen time, but I’ve been absolutely OBSESSED with Amazon Prime Videos. Ahh. Documentaries have become my new favorite! Click on any of the pictures to be directed to the Amazon page!

Current Read: Modern Romance

As one of my New Year’s goals, I’ve set out to read more. I used to watch YouTube videos for hours before I went to bed, but that’s not the best for you. Instead, I decided to do something more productive with my life and start reading! I’ve been able to fall asleep so much easier, and you know what they say, “the more you read, the better you write.” Well, maybe they don’t say that, but I think it’s true! Since I’ve started to read more, I’ve seen a significant improvement in the quality of my blog posts.

Aziz Anzari Modern Romance

Anyways, I received Aziz Ansari’s book Modern Romance for Christmas this past year, and I fell in love with it! I’ve had my eye on it for a while, but I didn’t want to spend the money, so I put it on my Christmas list. Isn’t that what everyone wants to do when they don’t want to buy something for themselves?

Fall Semester Reflection

I find that reflecting on the past is very therapeutic and can help you learn from your mistakes. Last semester was such an amazing experience and I learned so much about myself, other, and the real world. If you want to go check out my goals that I set back in August, click here!

A few monumental things that happened in the Fall of 2015:

  • Survived the horrific flooding in South Carolina
  • Went to a Hoodie Allen concert
  • Started a vlog channel
  • Passed all of my finals

Spring Semester Goals

Well, Christmas break is now over and school has started. I’m currently eating my second salad of the week and writing this post in our student union, both of which are part of my New Year’s resolutions and goals! Last semester I really didn’t write a semester goals post. Instead I wrote a freshman year goals post. While I thought that was a good idea then, I’ve now realized that taking college semester by semester is the way to go. So lets see if I can tackle these second semester goals!

spring-2016-goals

First semester was a HUGE change for me. New city, new state, new school and no friends. I think I grew a lot as a person and made some realizations about myself and other people along the way.  This semester I’m really going to try and focus on bettering myself and, hopefully, finding my place in college.

2016 Blogging Goals

2016 is here! Happy New Year! Well, this post is like three weeks after the New Year, but I’m actually writing it on January 1st. You see, scheduling plays a big role in my blog. 2015 was such an amazing year for me. I mean I started this blog! And, last month I passed 1,000 page views!! I love setting goals for myself. For example, check out my New Year’s Resolutions/Goals post. I have a feeling that 2016 is going to be a big year for me if I just stick with blogging.

Overall, I think one of my major goals for this year is to stop worrying about the numbers. When I first started blogging, I would check my stats probably 20+ times a day. That’s no exaggeration either. I’ve gotten better about not checking them but once every day or every other day. Numbers don’t define the quality of your content.

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
