Spring Break: Denver, Colorado

I think every college student dreams about spring break. It’s a nice mental break in the middle of spring semester. Motivation is low. Sleep is lacking. Anticipation is high. Usually my spring breaks consist of me sitting at home with a bunch of food watching Netflix all day. Sound familiar? Thanks to my parents’ and uncle’s spur of the moment decision, my spring break would no longer be spent on a couch.

This year for spring break, I hopped on a plane and headed to Denver, Colorado. Now, I’ve been to Denver once before and I’ve flown a decent amount. But, I’ve never flown alone. All by myself. Without any one. I think that’s the part I was most nervous about. [Read more…] about Spring Break: Denver, Colorado

#OnTheBlog Update

I’m currently on spring break this week (yay!) and I wanted to keep things kind of simple. Right now, I’m in Denver hanging out with my family, enjoying the weather, and taking a nice mental break from college. I don’t have a lot of time to work on a post, so I thought I’d give you a bit of an update about what’s been going on here at Living the Gray Life! I never addressed some of the major changes that I made here, so I thought now would be the perfect time!

blog update

I don’t know if you noticed, but Living the Gray Life recently got a complete overhaul. Ok, well it wasn’t super recent, but it was within the last two months. That’s pretty recent, right? Back in January, I made a spur of the moment decision to change my theme!

Easy College Meals: Black Bean & Corn Quesadillas

With college comes with a lack of income which can lead to unhealthy food choices. You tend to get more for your money if you buy the sugar-filled and fat-filled options from the store. The goal of my Easy College Meals recipes is to provide meals that are cheap and easy to make! And, most importantly, they’re healthy! Well, healthier than the store-bought options.

In this post, I’m going to show you how to make one of my favorites, black bean and corn quesadillas. Canned beans and canned corn are relatively inexpensive, and you’ll have tortillas let over to make even more quesadillas or other healthy snacks! This recipe is pretty self-explanatory, but why not show you pictures anyways!

Spring Break Makeup Essentials

Spring break 2016 is finally here! I know my spring break may be a little early, but it is well needed. This year I’m off to Denver, Colorado, to shadow my uncle! Even though it’s still “work,” it’s a nice break from chemistry and English papers.

Since I’m off to Denver for the week, that means a lot of traveling for me. And with traveling comes packing and with packing comes pairing down my makeup to the essentials. Here are my spring break makeup essentials that I can’t live without!

February Favorites 2016

Hello Internet friends! Once again, I have my monthly favorites for you. Is it ok that I start calling you my Internet friends? I want to have a catch phrase. You know, some bloggers use hello lovelies, and I wanted one of my own. I thought that I would start including a little monthly recap in each of my favorites posts, just to give you a look into what’s been going on in my life! You can find that below the picture before the favorites!

Current Read: Divergent

OK, so I’m very late on this whole Divergent trilogy thing, but you know, at least I got around to reading them at some point. I’ve heard a lot about these books over the years, but from the required readings in high school and the stress and busyness of college, I’ve never sat down to read them. Until now. I picked up these books back in January before I came back to school, and two months later, I finally read one of them.

When the Divergent series first came out, I thought it was going to be exactly like the Hunger Games. If you thought that, or even still think that, it’s actually not true at all. These books do have a similar element to the Hunger Games because they’re set in a post-rebellion time period.

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
