Summer Fun Here I Come

Oh wow. I tried a more creative title for today’s post, and I’m not too sure how I feel about it. Thoughts? Anyways, finals week is less than a week away, and that means I’m that much closer to moving out of college! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the freedom of college. I don’t, however, like my current living situation.

the perks of moving home for the summer

So, here are some things I’m not going to miss once I move back home.

Computer Science: A Girl’s Perspective

I’ve always heard that the engineering and computing fields are dominated by men and that only a fraction of a percent of engineering and computing students at colleges and universities are girls. Going into college, I thought that this was just a statistic that has become overblown in the past few years. But when I walked in to my first computer science class last semester, I realized it’s all true. Being one of a small group of girls in my major has really changed my view on myself  and social stigmas.

computer science from a girl's point of view

My exact major is computer information systems. Basically, it’s computer science combined with a business minor. Personally, I think this is a really well-rounded degree. I’m becoming a computer scientist all while learning about business.       [Read more…] about Computer Science: A Girl’s Perspective

Why I’m a Morning Person in College

Yes, you read that right. I’m a morning person and I’m a college student. I know that’s a rare pairing, but I love it! College doesn’t have to mean late nights spent studying or even having to pull all-nighters. I can tell you that I (somehow) manage to get 8 hours of sleep a night, stay on top of my school work, and have a social life.

why I'm a morning person in college

Here are my reasons why I’m a morning person, even in college.

5 Things to Consider when Registering for Classes

Class registration is here once again! This can either be really stressful because hello schedule conflicts! or… yeah, no it’s basically just a really stressful time. You’re basically scheduling how stressful your life is going to be for the next four months.

5 things to consider when registering for classes

My Fitness Journey

Today I’m going to get a little more personal than I usually do in my posts. I am talking about fitness, my struggles and triumphs with fitness, and how it’s changed my outlook on life. I feel that sometimes, especially with girls, we think that we have to have this perfect body, that we can’t gain weight, and that if you don’t fit a specific stereotype, it’s not okay. Today I want to share how none of that is true and that all that really matters is your own happiness, whether that be from working out or sitting on the couch devouring a bag of chips (because tbh, both of those things make me very happy).

The world paints a really distorted view of being healthy or being in shape. Society highlights all of these teeny tiny models with itty bitty waists and that’s our view of healthy. Now, I’m not saying that these models aren’t healthy. [Read more…] about My Fitness Journey

So this happened last night... So this happened last night...
Haven’t posted a mirror selfie in probably a year Haven’t posted a mirror selfie in probably a year and a half... feeling proud of my progress 💪🏼

Also, stress painted my nails last night because I was so nervous for a job interview I had today... anyone else feel like they suck at job interviews??
Feeling strong in more ways than one 💪🏼 Taking so Feeling strong in more ways than one 💪🏼

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

Oh, and mental health is doing fantastically, too!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
I honestly forgot how productive I am whenever I w I honestly forgot how productive I am whenever I work from a coffee shop ☕️ No pantry full of food, no comfy bed, and no opportunity to take a nap. Working from home is great and all, but it can be so distracting 😂
