19th Birthday Recap

19 years old. You know I really remember just yesterday being in elementary school dreaming about being 13. Oh man 13 year-olds were so mature. They were so cool. Now I’m six years past being 13 and I really don’t know how I got here, haha. Middle school and high school passed in the blink of an eye and now I’m sitting here at 19 years old wondering what the heck I want to do with my life.

Anyways, this post is going to be all things celebrating my birthday! I’ve got a haul video and tons of pictures, so brace yourself. Also if you want to check out one of my really old post that covers what I did last year on my 18th birthday, you can see that here. I’m not guaranteeing that post is quality, but it’s really interesting to see A. how much my blogging has improved in one year and B. how similar my birthdays were!

Daily Curly Hair Routine

Very recently I made a major decision to chop off 5+ inches of hair. I’ve never had my curly hair short before and I was in desperate need of a change. The ends were dry and brittle and my hair had lost its overall shine. Chopping off my hair was the best decision I’ve ever made, and it’s kept it super healthy. Today, I wanted to share the products I use on a daily basis to keep my curls bouncy and almost frizz-free!

Daily curly hair routine - products & techniques

Welcome to the struggle bus known as trying to maintain a mane of curly hair. Curly hair is very moody and does whatever the heck it wants no matter the day, important event, or special moment. It’s taken me 19 years to finally figure out what works for my hair, and as a fellow curly-haired girl, I find the need to share the products and techniques that work for me to maintain the frizz. All of these products can be found at your local Target and Sally Beauty because this girl doesn’t have the budget for high-end hair products. I’ve stuck with these products for the past several years and they’ve never let me down!

4th of July Cupcakes

Surprise! Happy 4th of July! I am coming to you today with a fun post that I really wanted to do. I don’t know why, but this year I’ve been super into the whole red, white, and blue thing for the 4th. I usually don’t get that excited about the 4th of July, but there’s just something different about this year. Maybe it’s because I’m actually throwing a get together this year instead of sitting around hoping someone will invite me to do something.

An easy, simple, delicious recipe for festive 4th of July cupcakes.

Anyways, in order to fulfill my need for red, white, and blue in my life, I decided to whip up a delicious batch of 4th of July cupcakes! Perfect for a 4th of July barbecue or just a fun night in, these cupcakes are delicious. Well should I say the batter and the icing were delicious. I’ve yet to actually try one… I’m saving that for the party tonight.

June Favorites

Another month has passed and it’s time for another monthly favorites post. I only have one month left in Knoxville, and come August 3rd, I’ll be off to Columbia to spend my sophomore year at Carolina. This month has been full of so many emotional ups & downs and very exciting things happening on the blog!

I’ve decided to kind of re-brand my monthly favorites posts. A few months ago I added a life update segment and now I’m adding a monthly stats segment! We’re going to call this little monthly post monthly recaps from now on because it’s turned into way more than just my five favorites from the past month. Hope you don’t mind the new addition!

Taking some time outside of CrossFit to drill down and focus on my weightlifting technique. Snatches and cleans have always been a little intimidating and I’ve been scared to push myself on them for fear of injury. Looking forward to seeing how my lifts progress over the next few months!

@cattyelizabeth5 and I are back after 3 long months, and we’re so excited to share the first episode of season 5 of Girls Talk! It’s a good one and a pretty great way to spend an hour of your quarantine 💁‍♀️
These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestl These photos were taken THREE YEARS AGO... honestly it feels like yesterday. I was 9 months in to my fitness journey, tracked macros like it was my job, and religiously went to the gym 5-6 days a week. Seeing this pop up in my “Memories” was just what I needed today because being stuck at home because of my susceptibility to lung problems and #covid_19 has left me highly unmotivated to workout...
